The Tavern Re-Opening

The Tavern to re-open on Thursday 24th November, bringing a menu of both old favourites, exciting new plates and late-night revelry.

The Lucky Onion is thrilled to announce that their Cheltenham restaurant, The Tavern, will reopen on 24th November 2016.

The Tavern started with a simple mission: to deliver delicious food at reasonable prices. This mission remains the same, and after being closed for a few months due to a small fire, The Lucky Onion’s first property; now part of a six-strong portfolio of restaurants, hotels, and pubs in and around Cheltenham, will re-open to much anticipation, bringing a menu comprised of firm favourites alongside some delicious new plates, and extended opening hours of midday to midnight each day, staying open until 2am at the weekend.

The new menu, curated by owner Sam Pearman and Head Chef James de Jong, will focus on comforting honest food, but with a modern edge, and will have a completely new array of dishes bursting with flavour as well as some of the much-loved classics that regulars adore. New dishes include their homemade artisan ‘Hog’ and ‘Chilli Cheese’ burgers made with local dry aged beef from Stokes Marsh Farm and served with deliciously dirty trimmings and alcohol laced, sinful shakes.

Not only is it about hearty burgers, you can also tuck into an array of globally-influenced dishes such as ‘Sticky Chicken Wings’, ‘Chorizo Scotch Egg’ and ‘Squash & Grains Salad Bowl’. Look out for some of the classics such as ‘Buttermilk Fried Chicken’, ‘Mac ‘n’ Cheese’ and ‘Salt ‘n’ Pepper Squid’ which will retain pride of place on the menu as well. Not forgetting, a drinks menu which will be announced shortly.

An exciting addition to The Tavern menu is the all new ‘Sundae Service’. Available all day every day, ‘Sundae Service’ allows guests to build their very own, bespoke Sundae. Guests are encouraged to create and draw out how they would like the pudding to be crafted in the kitchen via the note pad on the table. Simply tear off and give to the waiter.

The restaurant will also bring new late-night revelry to Cheltenham with the launch of ‘Late Night at The Tavern’. On Friday and Saturday nights from 10.30pm, The Tavern will stay open until 2am for revellers to indulge in new cocktails or some hard liquor. They can eat, chat or dance to vinyl-only mixes of hip-hop, funk, soul, disco or music from their once-a-month guest DJ.

The launch weekend, taking place from Thursday 24th – Sunday 27th November, will have an open house policy allowing everyone to experience delicious food and great drinks at The Tavern. The more the merrier; everyone who books a table from Thursday evening through to Sunday evening will be will able to celebrate and have a drink on us. Call The Tavern now to secure a reservation.
