Paradise Garage Opening

Paradise Garage

Paradise Garage is a new restaurant venture from Robin Gill & his team behind The Dairy & The Manor in Clapham, launching in July 2015.

Simply named after its location on Paradise Row (Bethnal Green), the venue, designed by Rosendale Design, is being built into an old railway arch, carefully using the natural height to create a relaxing, fun and comfortable space. Inside, service will be relaxed, informal but knowledgeable and the soundtrack and atmosphere will be just as important as the food.

The feature bar will act as a platform showcasing the theatre of the creation of the dishes by placing the main cook line, the beating heart of the establishment, central to the onlooker. Guests will be able to sit at the counter amongst the action, watching and interacting with the team creating the dishes and cocktails.

Banquette seating along each side of the main restaurant will offer a comfortable and more traditional environment to relax in, and also give the flexibility to seat larger tables and parties.

The menu has a back to basics, simple and British approach, with produce at the forefront, continuing to value the same ethos as The Dairy and The Manor. Expect dishes such as “Barbequed sardines, sea greens, tomato & horseradish”, “Lamb rump, sweetbreads, summer cabbage, peas & marjoram” and Simon’s own signature beer salumi.

As a unique and exciting dining experience Simon and Robin have created a feasting “picnic” for the table, centering around an ingredient Simon is incredibly passionate about: Rabbit. The menu will be a celebration of rabbit including roasted saddle, confit leg, turnover & offal, as well as belly scratchings and seasonal vegetables to accompany it.

The industrial blackened steel mezzanine will house another 20 covers above the kitchen itself for a more private setting, and the surrounding arch shelving will showcase our house cured salumi, ferments, and great wines from our key suppliers such as Tutto Wines and their stunning Italian-natural approach.

Chef Simon Woodrow joined us in 2013 at The Dairy and heads up the Paradise Garage kitchen, joining us from The Manor where he was Senior Sous and an instrumental part of the opening. Simon’s cooking has a more traditional and British approach, and he learnt the core of his trade at Arbutus in Central London, where he spent 3 and a half years in one of London’s most respected kitchens. Our talented pastry chef, Kira Ghidoni (The Manor), will be leading the pastry section and creating desserts based on seasonal produce and British heritage, that promise to be just as exciting as the savory plates.
