Merchants Tavern Kitchen Workshops

Throughout 2016, the team at Merchants Tavern in Shoreditch is hosting a series of exclusive Kitchen Counter Workshops inviting food lovers into the restaurant kitchen. Guests will be given the opportunity to experience the unique flair and expertise of the kitchen team as well as learn tricks of the trade from Angela Hartnett and Head Chef Neil Borthwick. All workshops will be followed by a two-course lunch at the Kitchen Counter accompanied with wines and coffee.

Serving seasonal modern European food, Merchants Tavern is a creative collaboration between Angela Hartnett and Head Chef Neil Borthwick. The ethos behind the critically acclaimed restaurant is one of passion without pretense with a focus on top quality drinks and food that is refined yet honest.

The Kitchen Counter, where workshop guests will be seated to enjoy their lunch, joins the restaurant and the kitchen. It gives diners a unique perspective into the kitchen and the chance to interact closely with the chefs while they work.

Merchants Tavern Kitchen Counter Pasta Making Class

Saturday 5th March – tickets £95

Angela Hartnett and Neil Borthwick will teach guests to make three different kinds of pasta and an array of accompanying sauces to create show-stopping Italian dishes.

Merchants Tavern Kitchen Counter Butchery Class 

Saturday 9th April – tickets £150

The Merchants Tavern Butchery Class will be hosted by Neil Borthwick and the restaurant’s acclaimed meat suppliers The Lake District Farmers. Guests will learn butchery tips and tricks, as well as create sauces and accompaniments.

Saturday 7th May – tickets £110

At the Market Day Neil will give guests a guided tour of London restaurateurs’ favourite market – Spa Terminus. This industry market is in the heart of the foodie haven of Bermondsey yet unknown to tourists and London shoppers alike. The tour will introduce the market’s finest vegetable traders while giving a chef’s guide to market shopping. Guests will then be transported – with their ingredients – back to the Tavern where they will work with Neil to prepare a two-course vegetarian lunch.
