Dirty Tommi’s

Dirty Tommis At Dirty Bones

One of the most anticipated pop-ups of the year has arrived in Kensington this month. The legends that are Dirty Bones and Tommi’s Burger Joint, have come together to turn Sunday’s on it’s head and do away with the standard roast. The collaboration has brought together the best that both have to offer and slapped it on to a whole new menu that screams “Dirty!”

Based in the Dirty Bones basement, Dirty Tommi’s is a once a week treat, that is running for a limited time only. The creative Dirty Bones cocktail list is still in residence, with crowd pleasers like The Littlest Hobo and the Mutt’s Nuts, that are perfect for sipping whilst deliberating over the new menu.

Starters consist of incredible Sticky Pork Ribs with a BBQ Glaze, Dirty Bones’ delicious crispy Chicken Wings with a dash of Lemon and Chilli and not forgetting the Charred Padron Peppers too. It’s a modest list but hits the spot perfectly.

Unlike the starter list, the mains make for a far more difficult decision making process. Obviously when you come to a pop-up of this kind, you’re here to try the new and exciting dishes that have been cooked up specifically for the evening. There are two dishes that have been carried over from both partner’s menus; the Classic Yankee dog and Tommi’s Steak Burger. Both are equally indulgent and palate-pleasing but the new kids on the block really grab the headlines.

On the hot dog side, there’s Tommi’s Burger Dog and Tommi’s Bacon Dog, the latter being blessed with a smothering of Tommi’s Brûléed Baconnaise with a crumbling of Bacon bits to top it off. It was incredibly hard to pass on both but the burgers sounded even better. The Dirty Mac Burger is exactly what you expect. Tommi’s Beef patty topped with Dirty Bones’ indulgent and creamy Mac & Cheese. Now that’s a serious mouthful!

The second burger features Dirty Bones’ Fried Chicken in Spiced Cornflour, with Spicy Salsa Verde, Smokey Chipotle, Sweetcorn Mayo, Crispy Chicken Skin & Spicy Pickles. It’s exactly what you expect from DB; perfectly cooked with some of the juiciest chicken that you’ve ever had the privilege of putting in your mouth. If we had to choose our favourite, we’d be hard pushed but it would probably be this bad boy! And if you’re craving a real feast, you should add a side of Sloppi Dirty Fires, they’re amazing!

Puddings come in two forms. There is the option to order one of Tommi’s Boozy Shakes, either the Strawberry Shortbread with Finlandia Vodka or the Dirty Bounty that is laced with Bacardi Gold Rum and Overproof Rum! We’d put away a fair few cocktails so thought we’d give the extra alcohol a miss and opted for the Milk & Cookie and the Coffee & Doughnut. Each dish leads you to believe that you will actually be having a drink with your chosen sweet but in fact it comes in the form of an ice cream, disguised as a drink. Exactly what you need to accompany a molten cookie or a soft fluffy doughnut. Both were faultless and rounded off the creative menu perfectly.
