With the sun finally making an appearance, we were super-excited to head down to the Southbank for the relaunch of Rumpus Room at Mondrian London. Located on the 12th floor of the glossy Sea Containers building, the bar has re-opened this spring with an entirely new feel and design as well as a fresh food and drinks menu. Curated by London-based designer Jacu Strauss, the space has been recrafted with a glamorous-yet-casual 1920s vibe.
On offer from the kitchen is a new selection of small plates that echo the American style of the interior while championing top-notch British ingredients. Some choice picks include Woodford Pulled Pork sliders, Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Truffle Croque Monsieur.
The new drinks list has been carefully put together by Head Barman Idris Conti and fits the bar’s relaxing atmosphere to a T. If the food hasn’t whet your appetite yet, the cocktail descriptions will: ‘R.I.N elixir, made with celery & absinthe drops, citrus, rice, tea and apple shrub, Bombay sapphire gin and tonic water’; ‘Farmer’s Punch, made with Falernum, maraschino, citrus, Amero Averna and Garmana 2yo Cachaca’.
With panoramic views across the river Thames, Rumpus Room is a great spot to sink a few after work and take in the breathtaking London Skyline.
