Weekend Retreating With Burley Manor

The summer has finally arrived and it seems that the city is buzzing with activity. Everywhere you look enormous patchwork creations cover once green park areas as people scramble to lay down their towels over every inch of sun-kissed land and boozy party goers spill out on to the rooftops and pavements, revelling in the “heat wave”. A scenario that plays out once a year over what seems a frenzied couple of weeks that we call the British Summer.

However, with all the excitement and non-stop partying, the city can quickly get the better of you and leave you longing for a nice quiet nest to laze in a safe shell of peace and serenity. A couple of weeks ago, that’s exactly what we did! We jumped in the car and gunned it for one of our favourite spots, the magical New Forest an more importantly, the beautiful Burley Manor.

Take a 360 spin of the grounds below, just use your mouse or finger to explore.

A unique refuge from the hustle and bustle of the city and only a two hour drive, it’s just what we needed. It’s a tranquil grown up’s only manor, recently refurbished with beautiful detailing and furnishings, private suites and you’re even treated to a sight we will never tire of waking up to, herds of New Forest deer running around in the morning sun!

Not only are the grounds and rooms stunning but the food is of an equally high caliber too, with a wealth of locally sourced produce and organic ingredients used to create some truly delicious dishes, whether it be for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Homemade breads are drizzled in rosemary infused olive oil, whilst local Duck, perfectly pink, is matched with heritage carrots and let’s not forget that breakfast of Bacon Chop with Fried Egg or that Coconut & Lime Pudding with Blood Orange Sorbet!

Burley Manor is also the perfect base for exploring the New Forest. We took a trip around the quaint surroundings of Burley, sampling the local ice cream lady’s indulgent treats and further afield to the town of Lyndhurst, spotting wild horses on our way.
