On the eve of Black Friday, we queued up outside Lights of Soho to celebrate the launch of Time Out Black – London’s hottest new membership club.
Time Out’s editorial hive mind has crafted a carefully curated selection of privileges for Black members that go far beyond discounts – though foodies may find its £59 annual membership fee pays for itself, given that the card offers 50% off at some of London’s hottest restaurants.
Half art gallery, half bar, Lights of Soho was packed with party people, foodies, film enthusiasts and urbanistas, all hungry for the best experiences London has to offer. The launch party was a taster of what Time Out Black members can expect to enjoy – delicious (and entirely gluten-free) nibbles from Peruvian-Japanese fusion restaurant MOMMI, drinks (including a killer espresso martini) from Hoxton Gin, Estrella and Crystal Head Vodka, live music from BB Diamond and screening reels from über-cool documentary producers Dogwoof.
As the Time Out team introduced the evening, they mentioned a number of guests had remarked that they’d never been to the venue – in fact, they hadn’t even noticed it before, despite it being slap-bang in the middle of Brewer Street. It’s this exact reaction that Time Out Black hopes to evoke – helping even the most seasoned Londoner discover something totally new, and utterly awesome, every week.
