The Dr. Oetker Great Chocolate Bake

Calling all you lovely followers! WeTheFoodSnobs need your votes! Dr.Oetker asked me to get my apron on and get creating a fabulous and decadent cupcake that would be submitted into their Great Chocolate Bake Competition. So with a packet full of great Dr.Oetker ingredients to choose from, I set about deciding what I could design that was completely different from anything I have tried before.

The result? I present to you the “Doughn’t You Want Me Baby?” cupcake, which I need you all to go and vote for HERE. Sadly you can only vote for it using your laptop as it doesn’t seem to load on smartphones. But definitely do make the small effort to vote as if I win I will be going to New York!

Doughn't You Want Me Baby?

Now that you’ve done that though, here is how you can create a Doughn’t You Want Me Baby? cupcake yourself! It was inspired by my favourite ice cream, the magical Cookie Dough, from those geniuses Ben & Jerry! I was sat gorging on a pot of this creamy delight and thought that with cookie dough becoming more and more popular, why has no one chosen to fill a cake with it! So I came up with a concept and thought about a great name that I could imagine working at a cake stall in a food market and the Doughn’t You Want Me Baby? cupcake was born!

This decadent beauty delivers sheer indulgence with a delicious cookie dough filling and rich dark chocolate frosting! You just can’t say no!

Ingredients – Cupcake

170g Self Raising Flour

170g of Unsalted Butter

170g Light Brown Sugar

3 Eggs

2 Tablespoons of Cocoa Powder

1 Teaspoon of Dr.Oetker Vanilla Extract

Dash of Milk

Ingredients – Cookie Dough

180g Unsalted Softened Butter

75g Caster Sugar

125ml Condensed Milk

225g Self Raising Flour

300g of Dr.Oetker 52% Chopped Dark Chocolate

Ingredients – Frosting

140g of Unsalted Butter

280g of Icing Sugar

60g of Dr.Oetkers 72% Dark Chocolate

For the cake mixture it is simply a case of mixing all the ingredients together and then cooking in the over at 180 degrees for a maximum of 15 minutes. Guaranteed to produce a light and fluffy cupcake.

For the cookie dough, you could make this the night before and chill it in the fridge, although it is hard to not to keep sneaking spoonfuls, so you need to be disciplined. Take the butter and sugar and cream together, then beat in the condensed milk. Then add the flour and roughly chopped chocolate. This tastes amazing chilled and works really well with the cupcake sponge. Cut your cupcake in half and take a huge teaspoon of cookie dough and sandwich it between the two halves. The more the merrier as they say!

Then to finish, top with your frosting. The high cocoa content of Dr.Oetker’s 72% Dark Chocolate works really well for flavouring as it is quite bitter so won’t be too sweet when combined with all that icing sugar. Get yourself a good piping nozzle and decorate as you choose. Follow our design or branch out and go for something completely different! To finish it off I added chocolate shavings and submerged a delicious chocolate chip cookie into the frosting.

So there you have it. A quick and simple recipe for creating the most delicious and indulgent cupcakes ever!
