One of our new favourites, Gin Sul is the only gin from Hamburg, Germany, with roots in Portugal. Simple and fresh botanicals, careful distillation in very small batches and subtle hints of Mediterranean citrus, characterise their exclusive dry gin. Juniper berries, coriander, fresh lemons from Portugal, rosemary, peppers, lavender, cinnamon and gum rockrose (Cistus Ladanifer) are just some of the ingredients which produce the Gin Sul flavour.
It’s been popping up in more and more bars and restaurants recently, we even spotted it on our travels to the Kameha Grand Zurich hotel and were immediately attracted to it’s design. Finally armed with our own bottle we were very impressed that the flavour reflects the bottle that conceals this fine spirit. Strong wafts of juniper fill your nostrils as you remove the stopper, quickly followed by citrus and eucalyptus. On the palate it is even more enjoyable, whether you have it straight on the rocks or mixed with tonic. It’s a long finish with a slight spice that warms the cheeks, continuing to evolve as it flows around your tastebuds.
This is certainly one for the We The Food Snobs liquor cabinet!
